FOOTBALL INFORMATION
  • BOYS: Ages 7 – 12 years old

  • Age as of 7/1/2010 will determine the age group placement.  A child must be 7 years old by 7/1/2010 in order to register in the football program.|
     
  • Evaluations:  All players need to be evaluated. Players are encouraged to attend the Saturday evaluation.  If they can not make the Saturday evaluation they must attend the second evaluation date.  Players must come to evaluations dressed in full gear, which is shoulder pads, helmet with mouthpiece, leg pads, and rubber cleats. It is strongly suggested that the players bring a water bottle. If your child does not attend one of the evaluations then they will not be allowed to play a skilled position.

All participants must be at the park by the start time in
order to complete the full evaluation. 

  • Evaluations will be conducted by age group –

    7/8’s (conducted by 9/10 & 11/12 coaches)  - Held at Gold Complex
    Saturday 8/14:   Check in – 8:00-8:45am     Starts promptly at 9:00 a.m.                        Monday 8/16:            Check in – 5:00- 5:45pm          Starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.           
    The evaluation will take 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete
     
    9/10’s (conducted by 11/12 coaches)
    Saturday 8/14:          Check in – 11:00-11:45am Starts promptly at 12:00 p.m.         Tuesday 8/17:   Check in – 5:00- 5:45pm    Starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.                       The evaluation will take 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete           
    11/12’s (conducted by 9/10 coaches)
    Saturday 8/14:          Check in – 2:00-2:45pm     Starts promptly at 3:00 p.m.
    Wednesday 8/18:     Check in – 5:00- 5:45pm   Starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.
    The evaluation will take 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete
                
    Free Speed & Agility Clinics (for all ages) will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays prior to the start of the season on the following dates:

Clinic Dates:
Tuesday July 27th & Thursday July 29th –Gold Complex

Tuesday August 3rd & Thursday August 5th – Gold Complex

The clinics will be conducted by the Football Advisory Board and volunteer coaches from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  The clinics are intended to prepare players for the upcoming season as well as provide information regarding the football program.

  • Parent & Player Orientation will be held on Sunday, August 22nd in the Castine Center Hall A. 

 

  • 11/12 year olds will meet at 1:00 p.m. 
  • 9/10 year olds will meet at 2:30 p.m. 
  • 7/8 year olds will meet at 4:00 p.m. 

This gives parents and players the opportunity to meet the coaches, Age Group Directors and Football Advisory Board members.  The parents will be given a brief introduction to the Pelican Park Football Program.

  • Practices will begin the week of August 23, 2010. In order to teach proper technique in a contact sport, pre-season practices will be scheduled up to 4 evenings per week.  Once games begin, there will be a maximum of 3 practices per week.

  • Games begin September 11, 2010. The season consists of a 7 game schedule and concludes with a single elimination tournament.  All regular season games will be held on a Saturday.  Make-up games may be scheduled on a different day of the week.
  •  
  • All games and practices will be held at Pelican Park.

 

REGISTRATION FEES cover the cost of officials, jerseys, socks, helmet decals, score keepers, secondary medical insurance, and awards.


IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COST of a helmet, pads, cleats or pants.  Please contact your local sporting goods store for information regarding equipment.  An estimated purchase cost for all equipment is between $150.00 - $200.00 depending on the store and the quality of equipment.
