Basketball - Girls

GIRLS BASKETBALL GENERAL INFORMATION
The girl’s basketball program has 2 seasons, Summer & Winter, a year. Each season has different ages that can participate.

The girl’s basketball program has 2 seasons, Summer & Winter, a year. Each season has different ages that can participate.
SUMMER SEASON INFORMATION
- Ages that can participate: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12
- Age as of date is September 1st of the current year
- Registration is typically May/June
- Evaluations typically follow registration. Two different days are offered for the players that may have a conflict with one day. All players are required to evaluate or a scoring cap per game will be accessed.
- Practices typically begin early July. one practice during the week
- Games typically begin early/mid July. play a 9 game season, games are on weekends (Saturday OR Sunday) and on a weeknight
- Game days ARE NOT determined until after registration ends, because of the unknown number of participants in an age group.
- Games are officiated by certified officials o Scores and standings are kept o Single elimination post season tournament o All players will receive participation t-shirts
- 1st and 2nd season t-shirts & 1st and 2nd place tournament t-shirts are awarded.
- Pelican Park has a minimum playing time rule of 2 quarters; 1 full quarter (6 or 8 consecutive minutes) and the remaining 6 or 8 minutes can be used during the other 3 quarters.
- Reversible jerseys will be included in the price of registration. Players are responsible for providing their own shorts.
WINTER SEASON INFORMATION
- Ages that can participate: 6 clinic, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12
- Age as of date is September 1st of the current year
- Registration is typically Sept/Oct
- Evaluations typically follow registration. Two different days are offered for the players that may have a conflict with one day. All players are required to evaluate or a scoring cap per game will be accessed.
- Practices typically begin end of October. One practice during the week
- Games typically begin early November: play a 12 game season, games are on weekends (Saturday OR Sunday) and on a weeknight (there are no games the week of Thanksgiving and 2 weeks for Christmas/New Years.
- Game days ARE NOT determined until after registration ends, because of the unknown number of participants in an age group.
- Scores and standings are kept for ages 7-12 only
- Games are officiated by certified officials
- Single elimination post season tournament
- All players will receive participation trophy
- 1st and 2nd season trophy & 1st and 2nd tournament trophy are awarded.
